In the last article, we gave a general introduction of a mechanical mod and presented several advantages of a mech mod such as the rugged reliability, the simplistic design and the unique role in extreme-low resistance playing. It must be strongly emphasized that a mech mod is nothing of a care-free device like an eGo AIO or Provari. You don’t just drop a battery in and hit. If you’ve already seen the media reports of smartphone batteries exploding, then over charging a battery or short-circuit a mech mod can also cause severe incidents.
That is to say, mech mod requires more effort to details and a better understanding of all the variables. In this article, we would like teache beginners how to use a Mech Mod. To explain this, we will introduce several general vape accessories that a mech mod player needs to know. Also, we will recommend a legendary mech mod for our beginners – the VGOD Elite Mech Mod.
If you are a fan of rebuildable tanks, Mechanical mods are excellent. When rebuilding, you need to hit the mod to see how the coil is performing and make several micro adjustments. For an unregulated mech mod, it will not stop working or send you an error warning alert even when things get completely wrong. However, you also don’t need to wait for the mod to reset or clear up the error codes before you start to set up the coil builds. All these manual operations on a mech mod device tend to make DIY vapers or Mechanical chasers love them more.
For beginners, if you have no idea or don’t fully understand the ohm, amperage calculation or battery discharging rates, please don’t know attempt low resistance vaping under any circumstances. Otherwise, serious injury and property damage could happen if the coil setup or operation is not done in a correct way.
To get started with a mechanical mod, you’ll need the following vape accessories:
1 x Mechanical mod (Good quality and structurally-complete)
1 x Standard multi-meter (supporting voltage, resistance, short-circuit detecting)
1 x 18650 cells
1 x Rebuildable Tank
1 x Resistance wire
1 x Organic Cotton
1 x Tweezer
1 x Coiling rod
1 x Wire cutters
A digital multimeter can help you check both battery voltage and ohm resistance of coils. It measures battery voltage, wire resistance, and testing shorts. You can also find a ohm reader or voltage readers alternatively from famous DIY accessory brand such as Coil Master and GeekVape.
Thread the Battery Voltage reader to the 510 connector on the mod to measure the real-time battery voltage. Keep in mind that batteries should never be drained lower than 3.4 volts and a drain lower than 2.5 volts will likely destroy the battery setups.
Batteries are one of the most important part of the vape setup. The low-quality batteries might save you a couple of buck, it possibly causes severe incidents. So you may want to buy batteries from an authentic reputable manufacture. These batteries not only provide solid performance but also offers exceptionally good value. We list 4 kinds of 18650 cells and a special 20700 cells that are sold on ave40.
As everyone knows, there are several manufacturers that are selling poorer quality batteries which are rewrapped/recycled and over-advertised with overstated specifications. Holding a report from an independent yet unprofessional testing laboratory, they claims to put out the batteries over of 30A on pulse discharge rates to mislead the beginners. This is a large hidden trouble. Just remember, no 18650 battery has an over 30A genuine rating and the specification of their pulse discharge rates are not tenable.
Also, you can’t have your cake and eat it too. High CDR(also called Continuous Discharge Rate) amp rating and huge mAh capacity can exist in one cell. Longer running time will pull down the CDR amps while higher CDR rating will inevitable diminish the battery duration. These two parameters are used when comparing different batteries in different brands and modes. Different style of vaping on different charger and devices will also influence the performance of the batteries.
【Battery life & External chargers】
The battery life with mechanical mods really depends on how you vape. If you’re taking a couple of rips every few hours, you may not see the drop until a couple days. However, if you’re chain vaping a lot, then you’ll notice it much earlier.
Coil Master A4 ChargerCoil Master A4 has a maximum output of 2 amp charging within single slot greatly speed up your charging period. This 4-battery-slot charger mainly used for charging 26650 or 18650 lithium battery. It can process charging by monitoring the battery capacity automatically. Besides, every 4-battery-slot charger is configured with four micro-computer processed charging slots. Thus, users can place corresponding type of batteries to perform recharging in every charging slot.
The Nitecore Intellicharger i4 is a universal, automatic smart-charger compatible with almost all types of rechargeable batteries thus eliminating the need to own several chargers. The i4 is able to automatically identify Li-ion, Ni-MH and Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries and apply an appropriate charging mode (Constant Charge Current, Constant Charge Voltage and Trickle Charge). Each of the i4’s four microprocessor-controlled charging slots is capable of monitoring and charging batteries independently. Additionally, the yellow and blue power/charging status indicator lights could visibly indicate battery status and charging process.
Battery low voltage – You can use a multi-meter to see if your battery is recharged at 3.6V. You also use this device to check the mod when the vapor production recedes.
Battery polarity – Before you put an 18650 battery in your vape mod, make sure that you follow the instructions and insert your vape batteries properly.
Clean battery safely – To make sure your battery is safe, you need to clean it if it gets dirty. But remember not to come into direct contact with water. To clean your 18650 batteries safely, we recommend using a tissue with a small amount of alcohol to remove dirt.
You can use a ohm-reader to check if your atomizer is running with a resistance less than 1.8 ohms recharged at 3.6V. Also, you can use a multi-meter to connect one probe to the positive post (center post) and one to the outer metal casing.
In the last article, we’ve introduced the Teslacigs Biturbo. And this time would like to introduce the VGOD Elite Mech Mod, a device that doesn’t hesitate to wow us with its unparalleled design.
【VGOD Elite Mech Mod】
